My blood panel results; Lifeforce review
Interesting
A phlebotomist (fancy job title for people who draw your blood) showed up to my door one morning to draw my blood that covered 40+ biomarkers. Pretty straightforward. Although, my anticipation for what was coming next would be the tell-tale sign if this company was legit or not.
That company is Lifeforce. I connected with them recently and I was able to score a free diagnostic. I’ve always been curious, yet skeptical, about all these companies claiming “personalized health.” It all sounds great but in the end it’s just generic health advice. The diagnostic included, an “at-home blood test, telehealth visit, full clinical summary, and personalized plan.” This week I’ll show underneath the hood.
Once the phlebotomist left, my skepticism kicked in. I anticipated much of my results. What is this doctor going to tell me? Are they going to tell me to get on statins if I have high cholesterol? (fyi: the cholesterol-heart disease connection is a myth and more on this in future posts). Here’s a preview of what comes back:
You receive your results with a diagnostic report that is reviewed by a DO or MD and then a telehealth visit is scheduled to review your results. Getting on the call with the doctor, again I was optimistic yet skeptical of what they were going to actually advise me. I was ready to pushback and challenge this person. Well, I couldn’t have been more pleased.
It wasn’t isolating one metric and advising a whole life change or a drug based on a singular biomarker. It was taking my whole life into account. Eating habits primarily, lifestyle, exercise, sleep, stress levels, how I was acting on call, and how all my biomarkers were interacting. In other words, how our bodies actually work. No hormone or protein is acting alone. Every system affects one another.
